Ya’ll Fest

Kami Garcia talks chaos, the music that could save you from zombies, and some pie that we hope she brings to YALLFest…

Who and what would you bring with you for the zombie apocalypse?

My family and my dogs, Spike and Oz.  My laptop with the draft of UNBREAKABLE and the outline for the sequel on it.  The charm necklace I wear almost every day.  Duct tape (you really can solve almost any problem with a little duct tape).  AC/DC’s album, “Back in Black” (I happen to know zombies hate AC/DC).  And of course, Diet Coke.

If you could spend a week in any book world, which would it be?
Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches series or Clive Barker’s Abarat series

What is the best word (in any language) and why?
Chaos –  I love the way it looks on the page and the way it sounds when you say it, it’s spelled the same way in several languages, I’m fascinated by Chaos Theory, and sometimes the most beautiful things are born from chaos.

Who are you most excited to see at YALLFest?
Everyone!  The readers, my writer friends that I never get to see enough, Jonathan Sanchez of Blue Bicycle Books, and all the book lovers who came out to see us last year. Oh, and did I mention the pie?

What is your favorite flavor of pie?
Tollhouse Cookie Pie (I make a mean one.)
